Happy Friday All!
I am going to a wedding tomorrow morning and have been on a mahoosive hunt for a dress and obviously did a lot of research so that I could look my best… me being single and all!
So I thought I would share my findings with you and hopefully my guide will help you choose the right dress for your body shape!
So here goes…
There are 5 basic shapes: Apple, Pear, Strawberry (hmmm I am getting hungry now!), Hourglass and Rectangle.
The Apple Shape:
You are in proportion but tend to carry most of your weight around your mid section without a well defined waist. You probably have fab legs and boobs, so dressing is all about showing off these lovelies and to avoid adding volume to your middle.
Apple Dress Styles:
Empire lines to hide your tummy, low cut necklines, flared maxi’s and wrap dresses
The Pear Shape:
If you are bigger around the hips, bottom or thighs then you are a Pear! You probably have a lovely flat stomach so the trick is to add volume to your top half. Balance out your bottom curves with bold bright tops, puffy sleeves and large collars.
Pear Dress Styles:
A-line dresses, with low cut necklines and embellished bodices with plenty of detail.
The Strawberry Shape:
If you have broad shoulders and/or big boobs, you my dear, are a strawberry! This shape gives you an athletic look with a smaller waist and hips. Full skirts and wide leg trousers will balance out your shape.
Strawberry Dress Styles:
Fitted bodice with a flared skirt, one strap dresses and tunics.
The Hourglass Shape:
If your body goes in at the middle, with a fuller bust and bottom you are an hourglass! You have a very sexy shape and must be careful not to drown in overly baggy clothing. Wrap dresses, waisted belts and wide legged trousers will work wonders.
Hourglass Dress Styles:
Wrap dresses, tie back dresses, strapless and scoop or ‘v’ necklines work best for you.
The Rectangle Shape:
Rectangle ladies are fairly straight up and down though don’t always have the boyish chest to match. There’s no main area you want to minimise so you can get away with more things than most. A lot of you would love to enhance your curves though.
Rectangle Dress Styles:
Halternecks. One shoulder dresses and shaped shift dresses. All skirts look great on your figure.
Hope the guide helps!
Have a great weekend all!
